How to watch Project Runway Season 18 Online Abroad

Season 18 of Project Runway will premiere at 9:30 PM EST (6:30 PM PST / 2 AM GMT) on December 5. The last few seasons all had 14 episodes, so we can expect Project Runway to run until sometime in March 2020. There’s plenty of time until then, though, so read on to find out how to watch Project Runway season 18 online from anywhere (even if you’re abroad).

It’s important to note that we’ll only be recommending official sources for this show. Project Runway is extremely popular, which makes unlicensed streams almost inevitable. However, these tend to have laggy, low-resolution video, and to make matters worse, they can be taken down at any moment for copyright violation. With plenty of legitimate ways to watch Project Runway season 18 online, there’s simply no need to resort to third-party streams.

Project Runway will only be broadcast on region-locked streaming services. This means that if there’s no official broadcaster in your country, you’ll need a VPN to watch.

How to watch Project Runway abroad using a VPN

Streaming services are often only available in specific regions and can check the user’s IP address to see which country they’re in. When you connect to a VPN, though, your real IP address (and as such, your real location) are replaced with those of the server you’re using. This tricks websites into thinking you’re actually somewhere else, allowing you to watch abroad. Confused? Thankfully, it’s quite simple; just follow the steps below to stream Project Runway abroad.

Here’s how to watch Project Runway (Season 18) online from anywhere:

  1. Start by signing up for a suitable VPN. We particularly recommend ExpressVPN but if you’re looking for a low-cost alternative, CyberGhost and NordVPN are two excellent choices.
  2. Download the appropriate VPN app for your device. Next, install it and log in.
  3. Decide which streaming service you’d like to unblock from abroad.
  4. Connect to a VPN server in the required country. Bravo only lets you use it if you’re in the US, for instance, so you’d connect to an American VPN server.
  5. Finally, visit your chosen site and try playing a video. In most cases, it’ll load without any issues but if it doesn’t, try clearing your browser’s cookies and refreshing the page.

If you’re planning on streaming Project Runway live online, we strongly recommend spending a few minutes ahead of time to make sure your VPN works as expected. This way, if you have any issues, you’ll have plenty of time to contact your VPN’s support team and won’t have to miss the start of the premiere.

How to live stream Project Runway season 18 on US TV

In the US, Project Runway season 18 will be shown exclusively on Bravo. Here’s the good news: if this channel is already part of your cable TV package, you can sign in to the website and watch at no added cost. As well as being broadcast live, new episodes will be available on-demand for several months, so there’s no need to worry if you miss one.

Looking to watch Project Runway online without cable? You have plenty of options as the Bravo website also lets you sign in with your fuboTV, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV, or YouTube TV account. While all of these services come with a free trial (usually one week), given that season 18 is expected to run for several months, sooner or later you’ll have to pay. We’d recommend using Sling TV because, at $15 USD per month, it’s the least expensive way to watch.

Unfortunately, the Bravo website only lets you watch if you’re in the US. However, if you’re abroad, you can use this service as normal by connecting to a US-based VPN server. Still don’t have a VPN? ExpressVPN comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, which means you can use it to watch Project Runway risk-free and claim a full refund if you’re unimpressed.

Where else can I watch Project Runway season 18 online?

Want to watch outside of the US? Project Runway season 18 will actually have an almost-simultaneous release across several English-speaking countries. Take a look below to find out how to watch Project Runway where you live:

Canada

Canadian fans can catch all-new episodes of Project Runway every Thursday on CTV Drama at 10 PM EST. However, it’s worth noting that you’ll need a cable TV subscription in order to watch, whether it’s live or on-demand. Episodes generally stay available on-demand for a week or two, so if you miss one, it’s not the end of the world.

CTV is region-locked and only available in Canada. However, you can still use this service abroad if you connect to one of your VPN’s Canadian servers.

UK

Due to the time difference, new episodes won’t air at the same time in the UK as in the US. Instead, they’ll be added to the British Hayu library every Friday, starting December 6. This streaming service normally costs £4.99 per month but if you have Amazon Prime Video or Now TV, you can purchase the Hayu addon for £3.99 per month. Hayu comes with a 30-day free trial unless you chose the Now TV addon, in which case, it has a seven-day trial.

Although Hayu is available in several countries, only the British version has been confirmed to be showing Project Runway season 18. If you’re outside of the UK, you can still watch with a VPN.

Australia

American shows often take a long time to reach Australia, but happily, that isn’t the case this time. New episodes from Project Runway season 18 will be broadcast every Friday (starting December 6) at 1:30 PM AEST on Foxtel Arena.

So how can you live stream Project Runway online? Well, if you’re already a Foxtel TV customer, you can simply log in to the Foxtel Go app and start watching immediately at no added cost. If not, you can sign up for Foxtel Now instead; this costs $25 AUD per month and Arena is included as part of the base subscription.

Foxtel services are region-locked and only available in Australia. If you’re currently abroad, you’ll have to use a VPN to watch.

How does Project Runway work?

Project Runway follows a fairly well-trodden format. Every season, a dozen or so (sixteen this year) fashion designers compete in a series of challenges until only one remains. These challenges often involve designing clothing using unorthodox materials (such as food) or technology (LEDs).

This format continues until only three contestants remain. Each is then asked to prepare 12 outfits to be presented during New York Fashion Week. The catch is that they only have 12 weeks and a budget of $8000 USD. The judges then choose their favorite collection and the designer wins $100,000 to spend on establishing their own fashion line, as well as a feature spread in Marie Claire magazine.

What can fans expect from the new season of Project Runway?

We actually know quite a bit about the upcoming season. For instance, EW revealed a laundry list of guest judges including The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka, actress Leslie Jones, and Cyndi Lauper. Additionally, the Tim Gunn Save is coming back, but it’s been rebranded the Siriano Save. This will let Christian Siriano save one designer from elimination.

Of course, the most important people in Project Runway are the designers. Below, we’ll let you know a little about each of this season’s contestants:

  • Brittany Allen, aged 29, from Austin. A fashion professor and Austin Fashion Week alumni with a love of bold prints.
  • Asma Bibi, aged 30, from Atlanta. A self-taught designer, best known for her range of modest wear for Muslim women.
  • Chelsey Carter, aged 30, from Chicago. Designs unisex statement pieces that “embody edge and poise.” Clients include SZA and Chance the Rapper.
  • Jenn Charkow, aged 41, from Seattle. Owner of the eco-friendly Stone Crow Designs.
  • Marquise Foster, aged 30, from Brooklyn. This jack-of-all-trades and Vanguard Awards finalist is looking to prove that self-taught designers shouldn’t be underestimated.
  • Victoria Cocieru, aged 27, from Moldova. Owner of the Kheops brand. Creates striking, geometrically-inspired ready-to-wear clothing.
  • Alan Gonzalez, aged 25, from Houston. Runs Alantude, a line that emphasizes vibrant colors and clean lines.
  • Sergio Guadarrama, aged 36, from New York. Has been featuring in Vogue, New York Times, and Forbes. A highly-versatile designer with a particular interest in sustainability.
  • Dayoung Kim, aged 37, from Seoul. Winner of Korea’s Project Next Designer and owner of ready-to-wear brand MOIRAI.
  • ShaVi Lewis, aged 33, from Newark. The creative director of Stephen F, but is also working on his own self-titled line.
  • Geoffrey Mac, aged 41, from Brooklyn. An industry veteran with clients including Lady Gaga and Bjork.
  • Delvin McCray, aged 25, from Chicago. A fashion design graduate, currently working at Saks Fifth Avenue, whose style is best described as “dark romanticism.”
  • Tyler Neasloney, aged 29, from Jersey City. An up-and-coming designer whose line launched earlier this year. Currently best known for his collection of weekend bags.
  • Veronica Sheaffer, aged 40, from Chicago. Another self-taught designer; she specializes in detail work and perhaps unsurprisingly, usually designs wedding dresses.
  • Melanie Trygg, aged 29, from Orcas Island. Runs the architecturally and Scandivanian-inspired KLÄD Apparel.
  • Nancy Volpe-Beringer, aged 64, from Philadelphia. The oldest contestant we’ve had so far. A philanthropist best known for her love of androgynous designs.
